Snow Day

February 23rd, 2010

It’s been snowing all day. I got off of work early because of the weather.

After playing in the snow with Sylvie and Jenny, I started working on writing lyrics for the first song of the new record. It’s going to be titled “Winter Smoke.” I’ll post a video of me playing the song when it’s finished.

The Fleeting

February 6th, 2010

This morning I was using Facebook, and I had an inclination to search for an old friend. Then, I remembered that my friend passed away many years ago. How strange a feeling that is – for one brief moment in my mind, my friend was alive, and now, he’s not.

And of course these thoughts reminded me of my own mortality and the mortality of everyone I love. What a weird feeling on which to start the day.

Overdue Interview

January 31st, 2010

I finally finished writing, editing and submitting my interview with North Lincoln.

Saw Wheel has released a two-song seven inch record as a split release on Anti-Creative Records and Covert Coercion Records. This release marks both their first “electric” release and their first solo seven inch. The artwork was created by Cristy Road. The two songs, “Raw Words” and “The Old Days” can be heard on the band’s MySpace profile, and the record can be ordered from either Anti-Creative Records or Covert Coercion Records.

Enjoy!

Header Image

January 18th, 2010

I changed the header image. The current image is a temporary logo. I am in the process of designing an official logo for Dreadful Industries.

I finished designing an insert for the new Saw Wheel seven inch – a task I should have completed a few weeks ago. With any luck that record will be released by February.

Now I need to do some research and conduct an interview with North Lincoln for Punknews.org. This is another task I should have completed already, but it should have been done in November! I started working earlier but was interrupted by unexpected company. Now I have a small headache, so I suppose I can delay this another day.

Simple Logo

January 3rd, 2010

This is another logo I created in Photoshop. I’m still using Helvetidoodle for the font. I’m thinking it can be used for buttons and icons.

Line Logo

This logo was also created in Photoshop; I’m hoping to soon acquire a copy of Illustrator. Once again the font is Helvetidoodle. This is close to how I want the final logo to look. I plan to keep the text similar to this but add a filtered image of an industrial park setting. Now I just need to find an industrial park to photograph…

About

Photobucket
Dreadful Industries is an independent record label, publishing house, production company and blog run by RJ Cresswell.

RJ Cresswell is an amateur writer, musician, artist, photographer, entertainer, philosopher and human being.

RJ was born in Mississippi but currently resides in Texas where he spends his days teaching teenagers about various concepts in social studies and his nights reading books about cosmology, existentialism, the impending zombie apocalypse and other dreadful things. In addition to the aforementioned predilections, RJ also enjoys chess, cooking and travel.

RJ is married to a wonderful specimen of humanity who likewise spends her days teaching, albeit to much smaller human beings; however, she spends her nights watching lowbrow reality television programs and perusing internet message boards for posts relating to babies, parenting, fertility and colostrum.

The couple birthed their first child this spring, so many of their present conversations detail how clearly superior their child is when compared to the offspring of other homo sapiens.
